Dorset County Masters & Senior Age Groups Championships were held at Rossmore on Sunday 9 July 2017. The Championships had seventy swimmers present representing seven clubs competing in 258 swims with the 16-17 years age group being offered the opportunity to take part in this competition for the first time.
A total of 41 Championship Best Times were set during the competition with the most prolific new record holders being Fiona Hardie and David Hembrow, both of Littledown Masters, with five CBTs in the 18-24 years age group and four in the 70-74 age group respectively. Robert Lloyd-Evans (Poole) also rewrote breaststroke history in the 75-79 age group with CBTs in the 50m, 100m and 200m events.
The top team trophy was awarded to Littledown Masters who amassed 431 points. Runners-up were Seagulls (332 points) with Poole ( 256 points) finishing in third place. The trophy was presented to Littledown Masters’ coach Sam Woodward by the Dorset County ASA President, Chris Gassmann.
A huge thank you must go to all the officials who gave up their time to officiate, and to the Poole SC Swim Meet Committee for organisation and running the competition on the day.
